Violent Video Games, Kids with Guns, ESRB, Bad Parenting, & Sensationalism in News

I’m waiting on the day when people in general will actually address issues within society, rather than looking for a scapegoat or an out for their own misbehavior and/or mistakes. It seems taking responsibility for one’s actions is just too hard. This video address the supposed correlation between violent video games and acts of violence committed by young children or mentally unstable individuals.

I’m so very tired of seeing headlines in the news that have the name of a video game in it, or is littered throughout the article as the sole reason why such atrocities ever transpire. The most recent involving children being the article about the boy who shot his elderly caregiver over GTA IV, and the boy sentenced to home confinement in Orlando, FL because they brought a sledge hammer, knife, and gun to school “because of Minecraft”. Such articles that are so ill-informed only create more misinformation amongst the masses and even more trouble.

Nobody ever address why parents don’t pay attention to what their kids are playing or why the ESRB ratings are ignored. Nobody ever addresses why it was so easy or why the weapons in question were so accessible to such children in the first place. Nobody ever questions the mental health/stability of the individuals that go around shooting several people without any real remorse…

No, it’s much easier just to blame video games.
